V I S H U

Vishu, the festival celebrated in Kerala (South India) marks the first day of astronomical new year as per Malayalam Calendar. It is called Medam maasam (month).

On the day, malayalees (people from Kerala) wake up to see the Vishu Kani, which is prepared earlier day. With an idol of Lord Krishna in centre, the Kani gets its form with vegetables and fruits along with rice, Kani Konna (flower species: Cassia fistula).

Kani Konna is the regional flower of Kerala state.

Unity in Diversity

India is famous for its unity in diversity.

It is a place where diverse people such as diverse geographical location, diverse beliefs, diverse languages, diverse cultures intermingle and preach a single Indian Union.

This photo made me remind me that thoughts. Seen in this picture is a small temple and a small church built in proximity of each other. People of either beliefs seems to co-exist here.

From the unlikeliest place we see God, as help from a friend or a stranger; as a kind tone from your loved ones; as a token of gratitude from your colleague. God need not present himself in skin & blood; but yet he is present in skin & blood among ourselves; as we. Believe in God, beleive in yourself.

India teaches the sprituality of God being present in every life form as Jeevathma. Jeevathma as a whole constitutes the Paramathma or the larger self; GOD.

Kumbam / Kalasam

The pot or kumbam symbolizes mother earth, the water inside it the life-giver; the leaves life, and the coconut divine consciousness.

This particular snap is from shastyabdapoorthi (60th birthday) celebration. The kumbam is being depicted as god and prayed for goodwellness. Then the water from this is poured onto the couple symbolising gods blessings for a healthy life.
